FromSoftware studio has officially presented its roadmap for the year, and, frankly, this announcement was enough to put the entire gaming community on edge.
Farewell to Interearth: Elden Ring: Nightreign
Let's start with the most anticipated. After a flurry of rumors, the developers have finally confirmed the release date for the final chapter of their epic saga. The second and final major expansion, Elden Ring: Nightreign, is due out before April 2026.
The studio describes it as a “narrative finale” to the story of Between-Earth. We are waiting for completely new regions that will help reveal one of the biggest mysteries of the game - the secret of the origin of the Queen of the Eyes of Perdition. It seems that FromSoftware decided to put a truly large-scale and dark end to the history of Elden Ring.
New challenge: Duskbloods
But the real surprise was the announcement of a completely new major project under the working title Duskbloods. The game is currently in development, but its release is scheduled for the end of 2026.
What to expect? The signature dark fantasy aesthetic and those same hair-raising battles will not go away, but this time the studio is making a noticeable bias towards multiplayer interaction. FromSoftware is again trying something new without changing its style.
Elden Ring in your pocket: A technical breakthrough on Nintendo Switch 2
For those who doubted the power of the new portable console from Nintendo, a powerful argument was prepared at GDC. Visitors to the exhibition were able to personally try out Elden Ring on Nintendo Switch 2.
After the show was postponed to 2025, the result is impressive: the game produces stable 30-40 frames per second, and the graphics quality is comparable to the version for PlayStation 4 Pro. Insiders are already saying that this demo has set a new standard for AAA ports on the Nintendo platform.
Why is everyone talking about this?
FromSoftware have once again proven that they know how to make the industry freeze. While other GDC technical presentations are taking place as usual, social networks and forums are literally “on fire” with discussions of the Japanese studio’s roadmap. The confirmation of the end of the Elden Ring era and the first look at its successor in the form of Duskbloods were the main events of the Festival of Gaming.
It looks like 2026 will officially be held under the banner of FromSoftware!
