The genius is at work again: what have we learned about PHYSINT?
The main topic of the day is a large-scale leak about Hideo Kojima’s new project called PHYSINT. In case you forgot, this is the same “next generation spy action” that Kojima is making in conjunction with Sony Interactive Entertainment and Columbia Pictures. The goal is ambitious: to completely erase the line between cinema and games.
Thanks to a casting leak (the project is codenamed Project Shimmer), interesting details have become known:
Tense scene on the bus: At the center of the plot will be a captured bus. Now they are actively looking for actors to play the roles of passengers - among them there should be a mother with a newborn child and a group of five teenagers. Knowing Kojima, this will be the most dramatic moment.
Hannibal-style Villain:The game will have an extremely charismatic antagonist. This is a character with a German accent and "psychopathic confidence." In the working documents, his style is compared to the image of Hannibal Lecter performed by Mads Mikkelsen, but he will be played by some new actor.
When to expect? Principal photography and motion capture (mo-cap) will start only in June 2026. So there is still quite a bit of time before the release - most likely, the game is aiming for flagship status for updated consoles of the current or even next generation.
Movie or game? Kojima promises that this will be his most realistic work. And the participation of Columbia Pictures hints at some kind of hybrid format - perhaps we will see a parallel film or live-action inserts woven into the gameplay.
