Meet the Xbox Series P - a portable beast in your hands
After endless patent leaks and rumors, Microsoft has officially confirmed: there will be a portable console! The device was called the Xbox Series P (internal codename - “Project Lapis”). And most importantly: this is not just another gadget for cloud gaming. This is a full-fledged console for running games locally.
What's inside this device? The developers didn't skimp on the hardware. The heart of the console is a customAMD “Z2 Extreme” processor. It's powerful enough to natively run the entire Xbox Series S library at 1080p at 60 frames per second.
But the screen is even more impressive: an 8.2-inch OLED panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support for always-smooth visuals.
Not just a portable device, but part of an ecosystem
Microsoft has thought through everything to the smallest detail. If you find yourself cramped on a small screen, aCloud-Hybriddocking station is included. When connected to a 4K TV, AI upscaling technology (DirectSR) is activated, which brings picture quality up to the level of home consoles.
But the real magic is in the Instant Resume Plus feature. Imagine this: you're playing on your big Xbox Series X, you press pause, pick up the Series P, and less than five seconds later the game picks up exactly where you left it. Synchronization over the local network works almost instantly.
As for games, everything is fair here. All your digital purchases, including games from the original Xbox and Xbox 360, will be available to download and play on day one.
Price and when to expect?
Microsoft has chosen the ideal date to start sales - November 13, 2026, which coincides with the 25th anniversary of the very first Xbox.
The prices are pleasantly surprising: $399for the base 512GB model and $499for the Elite 1TB version. The “elite” will have a premium magnesium alloy body and sticks with Hall sensors (forget about stick drift!).
