A New Era for Handheld JRPGs: Native KINGDOM HEARTS Collection Debuts
Square Enix has officially confirmed technical details for the upcoming KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III], arriving October 8, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The headline change is the company's full pivot away from cloud-streaming versions toward native performance.
The collection brings together the entirety of the Dark Seeker Saga, culminating in KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind. Switch 2 receives a dedicated 45.2 GB native build running at a smooth 60 FPS without streaming lag.
"Moving to next-generation hardware allowed us to deliver Sora's adventure with seamless Disney world transitions and uncompromised visual fidelity," stated the Square Enix production team.
Visual Upgrades and Full DLC Integration
Engine updates introduce native 4K on modern home consoles and enhanced shader rendering on par with modern Square Enix masterpieces like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Final Fantasy XVI.
